SMS
Short Message Service (SMS) is a text messaging service component of phone, web, or
Mobile communication systems, using standardized communications protocols that allow the exchange of short text messages between fixed line or mobile phone devices.
SMS is the most widely used data application in the world, with 3.6 billion active users, or 78% of all mobile phone subscribers. The term "SMS" is used as an acronym for all types of short text messaging and the user activity itself in many parts of the world. SMS is also employed in direct marketing, known as SMS marketing.
SMS as used on modern handsets originated from radio telegraphy in radio memo pagers using standardized phone protocols. These were defined in 1985 as part of the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) series of standards as a means of sending messages of up to 160 characters to and from GSM mobile handsets. Though most SMS messages are mobile-to-mobile text messages, support for the service has expanded to include such other mobile technologies as ANSI CDMA networks and Digital AMPS, as well as satellite and landline networks.

PUNJABI
Punjabi (Gurmukhi: ਪੰਜਾਬੀ, Shahmukhi: پنجابی, Devanagari: पंजाबी) Punjabi is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by inhabitants of the historical Punjab region (India and Pakistan). Punjabi is unusual among modern Indo-European languages because it is a tonal language.
Punjabi is natively spoken by the majority of the population of Pakistan, and it is the primary language of the Sikhs in India and the third-most natively spoken language in South Asia, after Hindustani and Bengali. Punjabi is also currently the second-most spoken language in the United Kingdom and the third-most spoken language in Canada.
The influence of Punjabi as a cultural language in Indian Subcontinent is increasing day by day mainly due to Bollywood. Most Bollywood movies now have Punjabi vocabulary mixed in, along a few songs fully sung in Punjabi. At any point of time, Punjabi songs in Bollywood movies now account for more than 50% of the top of the charts listings.,,
Majhi standard Punjabi is the written standard for Punjabi in both parts of Punjab. Pakistani Punjabi contains a stronger Persian, Central Asian and Arabic vocabulary influences, while Indian Punjabi relies more heavily on Sanskrit. Pakistani Punjabis have been using the Shahmukhī script from the times of the Muslim Empires in the region, created from modification of the Persian-Nasta’liq script. In India, Punjabi is one of the 22 languages with official status in India. It is the first official language of the Indian Punjab. In Pakistan, Punjabi has has not been granted official status though it is the most spoken language and is the provincial language of Punjab (Pakistan), the second largest and the most populous province of Pakistan.
Punjabi is the most widely spoken mother tongue in Pakistan. Punjabi is spoken as first language by over 44.15% of Pakistanis. Punjabis comprise the largest ethnic group in the country. They are dominant in key institutions such as business, agriculture, industry, government, army, navy, air force, and police which is why about 70% of Pakistanis can understand or speak Punjabi. Lahore, the historic capital of Punjab, is the largest Punjabi speaking city in the world. 86% of the total population of Lahore are native Punjabis, and Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, has 71% Native Punjabis of its total population.
The Punjabi speakers in Pakistan are composed of various clans, based on a complex mixture of social groups, castes and economic groups. Muslim Rajputs, Jat, Tarkhans, Dogars, Gurjars, Gakhars, Khatri and Punjabi Sheikhs, Kambojs, and Arains, comprise the main tribes in the north, while Awans, Gardezis, Syeds and Qureshis are found in the south (Saraiki speaking area). There are Pashtun tribes like the Niazis and the lodhis, which are very much integrated into Punjabi village life. People in major urban areas have diverse origins, with many post-Islamic settlers tracing their origin to Afghanistan, Persia, Turkey, Arabia, Indus Valley civilization (Harappa and Mohenjo Daro) and Central Asia.
Punjabi is spoken as a native language by 3% of Indians. Punjabi is the official language of the Indian states of Punjab and Haryana. Some of its major urban centers are Ludhiana, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, and Patiala
The Punjabis found in India are composed of many ethnic, tribal, social (caste) and economic groups. Some major sub-groups of Punjabis in India include Ahirs, Arora, Bania, Bhatia, Brahmin, Chamar, Gurjar, Kalals/Ahluwalias, Kambojs, Khatris, Lobanas, Jats, Rajputs, Saini, Sood and Tarkhan. Most of these can be further sub-divided into clans and family groups.
Most of the Muslims of East Punjab (in today's states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and Chandigarh) left for West Punjab in 1947. However, a small community exists today, mainly in Malerkotla, the only Muslim princely state among the seven that formed the erstwhile Patiala and East Punjab States Union (PEPSU). The other six (mostly Sikh) states were Patiala, Nabha, Jind, Faridkot, Kapurthala and Kalsia.
